meet your teachers

Shivani and Stephen created the magic groove of Sundown Blues 2023 and yes, yes, yes – they will be back for our second edition! But this year we are thrilled to announce two more exceptional dancers to teach: Edmilson Botelho from Portugal who seems to have already danced before he learnt to walk. And Annette Kühnle from Germany, one of the most creative and experienced Blues dance teachers in Europe. Thinking of this dream team we already feel a bright smile melting on our faces …

Registration & Locations

Levels

We have two levels, both will include 4 partnered and 2 solo classes. You may register as lead or follow, we will try our best to provide a good balance between lead and follow.

  • beginner/intermediate: you have danced at least for one year, are familiar with the basics of blues dance and music. You are looking for more variations and flow in your dance.
  • intermediate/advanced: you started blues dancing at least 2-3 years ago and travelled to some festivals. Your body responds to different styles of blues, you want to dive deeper into details of style and find your own groove.

locations

  • Friday: We had to change Friday location! Unfortunately the Castelo di Nervi is not accessible due to a landslide. BUT we have a very unique place in the city center of Genova … details coming up soon.
  • Saturday party: Caribe Club, Corso Italia 3, 16145 Genova
  • Workshop: Caribe Club, Corso Italia 3, 16145 Genova

Where to stay

Foce and Albaro are the closest districts to workshop and Saturday party location (both at workshop and party location Caribe Club, Corso Italia). Or you may dive into the medieval and stay in the historic center (centro storico) where you find all kinds of AirBnB, hotels and guesthouses. It is well connected to Corso Italia by busses either from the Brignole station or piazza Caricamento.

By the way: Caribe Club is directly at the sea, so bring your bathing suit and towel to go for a swim during the workshop breaks. Or have lunch at the beach – how is that?

how to arrive?

Good train connections from Milano to Genova (ca. 1h30 h). If you come from northern Europe you will probably have to change trains in Milano.

If you fly, Milano (either Linate, Malpensa or even Bergamo) might be the most economic choice. All these three airports have a regular shuttle service to Milano Centrale, the main station where you easily catch a train to Genova.

There are direct flights from London, Manchester, Barcelona, Brussel, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Copenhagen to Genova.

Check also Pisa Airport which is directly connected to Genova by train.

Come down to the sea.

Genoa – Blues at the seaside

Never been to Genova? Always thought, if any, it was an industrial town, ugly harbour, good enough to quickly hop on the ferry boat to Sardinia or Corsica? Ok, va bene, ciao ciao … but wait.

Sundown Blues Fest 2023

It was one of these ideas that pop up at the bar, grow somehow bigger and bigger and finally become something you have never imagined … the first Sundown Blues Fest was simply magic. In the end we were completely exhausted but existed and promised: We’ll do it again. Sooooo, beautiful Bluesers … here we are with the second edition!
